Illini lineman arrested after allegedly assaulting two men

A defensive lineman from the University of Illinois was arrested and charged with aggravated battery Sunday after allegedly attacking two men because of their sexual orientation.

Chris Jones, 20, of the 400 block of East Chalmers Street in Champaign was arrested, according to the Champaign News-Gazette. He was being held on $100,000 bond.

The report indicates that Jones struck two men – one 28 and one 19. One of the men suffered “noticeable swelling” on the right side of his face. Another had a cut lip.

Illini coach Ron Zook told the News-Gazette he is investigating the incident.
