Important players out in Chiefs-Chargers game

As expected, the Chiefs and Chargers are both down two important players each in Sunday's season-finale with playoff implications.

For the Chargers, running back Ryan Mathews (ankle) and receiver Keenan Allen (broken collarbone) will miss the game. On the Chiefs side, quarterback Alex Smith (lacerated spleen) is inactive as Chase Daniel is expected to start in his place.

Both teams also have key players playing hurt, too. San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers is dealing with chest and back injuries but will suit up. Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles has a hamstring injury that he'll continue to gut out.

If the Chargers win, they're in the playoffs. If the Chiefs win, they need the Ravens to lose to the Browns and for the Texans to lose to the Jaguars to continue their season.
