Injuries deal blow to Panthers
One of the Carolina Panthers’ key free-agent acquisitions could lost for the season.
Defensive tackle Ron Edwards, signed to a $8.25 million, three-year contract last week, suffered a torn triceps muscle and is a candidate to be placed on injured reserve.
Edwards was one of the most prominent newcomers in free agency as the team devoted most of its resources to preventing its own players from exiting.
Unfortunately, his injury wasn’t the only one. Zack Williams, a sixth-round draft pick from Washington State, will miss the entire season after suffering a torn ACL, according to Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer. The belief was Williams could also serve as an interior lineman.
