Injuries have bogged down Saints' running attack all year

The defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints have been forced to deal with injuries at the running back position all season, so it’s no surprise that they’ll have to do some juggling heading into the postseason.

The Saints placed rookie Chris Ivory on injured reserve today after he suffered a foot injury in Sunday’s loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the regular-season finale at the Superdome. An undrafted free agent from Tiffin, Ivory wound up leading the team in rushing with 716 yards as Pierre Thomas missed more than half of the season with a serious ankle injury.

The Saints need to hope Thomas is ready to be a workhorse during the playoffs. He was added to the injury report late last week with an ankle issue. They need him to balance out an offense that has struggled at times this season. To add some depth, DeShawn Wynn was signed on Monday.
