Is Santonio Holmes milking his foot injury?

Is New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes milking his foot injury for all its worth? Or is he legitimately still injured as he recovers from a Lisfranc injury?

ESPN New York raises those questions, citing "people close to the organization" up in the air on what Holmes is thinking.

Holmes has a $10.75 million salary-cap figure in 2014 that endangers his roster status.

Perhaps Holmes is thinking about his pending free agency value moreso than rushing back onto the field.

If that's the case, it would be understandable.

Holmes is on the physically unable to perform list and could remain there when the season starts.

It will be an interesting situation to keep an eye on, one that could test the patience of Jets coach Rex Ryan and the entire organization as they need Holmes' talents on the field instead of in the training room.
