It's some Father's Day weekend for Phillip Daniels
It must be quite a Father’s Day weekend for Washington Redskins defensive end Phillip Daniels.
He told the National Football Post that his son DaVaris Daniels, a rising senior at Vernon Hills (Ill.) High School will hold a press conference at noon Tuesday at the school to announce his college choice.
DaVaris Daniels, 6-3, 185 pounds, is one of the top-rated wide receiver recruits in the nation. He will announce his decision between two finalists – Miami and Notre Dame.
The Vernon Hills’ offense isn’t very prolific, not in terms of throwing the football, but Daniels has generated great interest for years now. He played some quarterback last season and as a receiver he had 20 catches for 221 yards and two touchdowns. He is teammates with another highly-recruited receiver, Evan Spencer, the son of Chicago Bears’ running back coach Tim Spencer. Like father, like son, Evan Spencer already announced that he will accept a scholarship to Ohio State.
Phillip Daniels’ alma mater Georgia isn’t in play for his son. Come this time Tuesday, he’ll be a Hurricane or a member of the Fighting Irish.
