Jags' Kampman could be out until training camp
Defensive end Aaron Kampman probably won't be back on the field until sometime during training camp, as he recovers from his third knee surgery, according to the Florida Times-Union.
Kampman was a workhorse during the first half of 2010 for Jacksonville, but has played very little since then. He initially had an ACL injury in 2009 and again in 2010, then had a clean-up procedure last fall.
Now, Kampman appears to be a little behind schedule as he tries to come back for the Jaguars and knows that fans and management's patience may be running a bit thin.
“It’s a natural reaction,” Kampman said. “I haven’t played a full season for a while. So obviously people are going to say, ‘hey, is he?’ I get that. It’s a natural thing. No, I don’t get frustrated. The reality is, it’s a right now business. Patience is not always something that’s given.”
Meanwhile, there is some good news for the Jaguars, as cornerback Rashean Mathis is ahead of schedule in his recovery from knee surgery. He should be back on the field in time for mandatory off-season work that begins on June 12.
