Jaguar fans hold 'Sign Tim Tebow' rally

Jacksonville Jaguar fans held a rally at EverBank Field's parking lot on Monday hoping to somehow convince owner Shahid Khan to sign their hometown hero quarterback to a contract.

Per ESPN, the rally began at 3:16 p.m. EDT and lasted for 3 hours, 16 minutes in reference to the Bible verse John 3:16, which Tebow wore on his eye black in the 2009 national championship game at the University of Florida.

Tebow was released by the New England Patriots at the end of the preseason, and though he has has inquiries from a Russian team and from the Arena League team owned by the rock band Kiss, he has not had any feelers from NFL teams thus far.

Quite frankly, even if Tebow plays poorly, how much could he hurt the Jaguars' offense that has produced a paltry 11 points in two games. Starting quarterback Blaine Gabbert is out with a hand injury, and struggled to produce points when he was healthy in the opener.

Fans have savored for a homecoming for Tebow in Jacksonville in the past, but the Jaguars have shown very little inclination toward signing the former University of Florida star. Perhaps the Jaguars' reason for not signing Tebow is thatmight somehow win a few games and interfere with their pursuit of getting Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater with the first overall pick in the 2014 draft.
