The Jacksonville Jaguars want to broaden their fan base beyond just the northeastern portion of Florida, says the Florida Times-Union.

The Jaguars are in the midst of season ticket renewals for 2012, and new team president Mark Lamping would like to regionalize the fan base. Of course, Lamping spent many years with baseball's St.Louis Cardinals, whose fan base extends into several states beyond Missouri and have more than a century of tradition as well.

The Jaguars, while they are making plans to expand into other parts of the region, have plenty of competition for football dollars. Not to mention the college teams in the area, there are two other teams in Florida to contend with. The Dolphins, because they were the state's first professional team, have a strong following, and the Buccaneers reside on the opposite coast of Florida.

To the north into Georgia, there are the Atlanta Falcons to contend with as well. It could be a tall order for the Jaguars to broaden their horizons, but the best formula is usually done by putting a consistent winner on the field.
