Jake Long tears ACL in Rams loss
The St. Louis Rams will be without left tackle Jake Long for the remainder of the 2014 season.
According to NFL.com, Long tore his ACL during Sunday's 34-7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. It's the same injury he sustained a year ago, which may not bode well for the future of his career. From the Rams' perspective, it's tough to deal with since Long signed a four-year, $34 million contract a year ago.
However, it's a good thing that the Rams drafted offensive tackle Greg Robinson in the first round of the 2014 draft. Robinson got out to a slow start this season, though he has seen playing time in recent weeks. He filled in at left tackle when Long was injured against the Chiefs.
This will be Robinson's chance to prove why the Rams drafted him with their first overall pick. But it will be tough for Robinson to replace Long, a proven left tackle in the NFL.
