Jason Babin says Eagles could get worse before they get better

Jason Babin experienced some rough times in Philadelphia as the season unraveled this year.

And the defensive end who was waived by the Eagles and claimed by the Jaguars says it could get worse in Philly before it gets better.

The Eagles launched defensive coordinator Juan Castillo at midseason and no improvements were made. In chatting with Vito Stellino of the Florida Times-Union, Babin suggested more struggles could be ahead.

It’s been a tough year. We’ve had a lot of issues,’’ he said. “Things are kind of stagnant there. They could ultimately get worse before they better. So being part of something that is about to blossom is definitely an exciting feeling.”

Here’s the deal: Things could get worse for the Jaguars before they improve. First-year coach Mike Mularkey hasn’t done much to inspire confidence this season. General manager Gene Smith is on the hot seat. Quarterback Blaine Gabbert, the first-round draft pick a year ago, is injured but when he was playing he was a mess. Babin might want to examine the grass around him. It might not necessarily be any greener.
