Jason Peters upbeat manning left tackle for Eagles

Jason Peters is ready to leave last year where it belongs – in the past.

The Philadelphia Eagles left tackle participated in minicamp on Tuesday and said he’s not going to talk about injuries because he is full strength. Peters missed last year when he tore his Achilles tendon in the offseason and then re-injured himself.

It was a tough blow for Peters and the team as the team plummeted to 4-12 and reacted by using the fourth overall pick on Oklahoma offensive tackle Lane Johnson. The hope, though, is the 31-year-old Peters returns at the high level he was at when he last played in 2011.

I come to practice and I play,” Peters said, according to Jack McCaffery of the Delaware County Times. “Come check me out on Sunday and the preseason games and you’ll see if I am back. You be the judge. I know you guys always write about different stuff, but you be the judge. I will go out and play as hard as I can. I am not going to win all of the battles. But I will win most of them.”

Peters said there are personal reasons why he missed recent OTA’s. Otherwise, he seems like he is ready to go in Chip Kelly’s new system.

“I’m moving forward,” he said. “New system, new coaches, new players. I am pretty sure we will not go 4-12 again. Andy Reid was here 14 years and it was his only losing season. And it is not going to happen again under Coach Kelly. We are not going to leave a bad taste in his mouth, too.

“The injury didn’t set me back at all. I’m out there, and I am going to play just like I have been playing. If not, I’ll just hang the helmet up.”
