Jeff Fisher re-joins NFL's Competition Committee

The NFL announced the members of the influential Competition Committee for the 2012 season adding some new faces to the bunch, including Green Bay Packers president and CEO Mark Murphy.

St. Louis Rams coach Jeff Fisher, long a member of the committee, also returned to it after holding an advisory role this past season when he was out of the NFL. Arizona Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt was also added as a first-time member.

As former players, Murphy and Whisenhunt can lend insight into some of the decisions made by the group, which recommends rule changes.

“I was excited and honored to learn that I’ve been selected to the Competition Committee,” Murphy said in a statement released by the Packers. “It will be a new experience for me, and I am looking forward to representing the Packers in this capacity on a league level.”

The group is also made up of Atlanta Falcons chairman Rich McKay, Dallas Cowboys owner Stephen Jones, Cincinnati Bengals coach Marvin Lewis, New York Giants owner John Mara, Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome and Houston Texans general manager Rick Smith. The diverse background of the group gives the league a little bit of everything for key decisions that need to be made.
