Jeremy Green pleads not guilty, remains in jail
Jeremy Green, the former NFL scout and analyst for ESPN, remains jailed on child pornography charges after entering a not guilty plea on Tuesday in New Britain, Conn., court.
The Hartford Courant reports that the judge ordered Green put under a “medical watch.” He’s been incarcerated since his arrest July 8 at a hotel in Bristol, Conn., where ESPN is headquartered.
Green reportedly told police he is a cocaine user. He was charged with first-degree possession of child pornography as well as possession of narcotics and drug paraphanalia. His next court appearance isn’t until Aug. 31, and Green remains behind bars with bail set at $750,000.
He is being represented by a public defender who indicated he will attempt to have the bail reduced.
“There's nothing special about this particular defendant that would warrant such a high bond,” his attorney Claud Chong told the Courant.
