Jeremy Maclin heads to St. Louis to meet doctors

The Philadelphia Eagles don’t expect to have new wide receiver Steve Smith ready for the start of the season as he recovers from knee surgery last December.

Now, there is increasing concern Jeremy Maclin will not be ready for the starter of the season as he continues to seek clarity and health from an undisclosed ailment. According to Howard Eskin of WIP in Philadelphia, the Eagles wide receiver is in St. Louis today to meet with doctors and try to determine specifically what the issue is.

It’s been widely reported that Maclin has lost significant weight, telling reporters in the spring he had dropped 15 pounds with “mono like” symptoms. Maclin disputed Internet reports last week that he had a potentially career-ending illness.

He has yet to take to the practice field for the Eagles and as Eskin reports there is “growing concern won't be ready to start season.”

Hopefully, Maclin can discover a remedy for his situation soon. He’s certainly a big part of the offense.
