Jerry Jones wants fine for Golden Tate's big hit on Sean Lee

Jerry Jones believes a fine should be forthcoming for Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Golden Tate after his blindside hit on Dallas Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee in Sunday’s whipping.

But officials did not call a penalty on the play and Tate did not use his helmet to strike Lee. It’s also going to be tough for the Cowboys to get their wish because Lee isn’t a “defenseless” player in this scenario.

Tate laid Lee out with a shot to the upper chest. Lee went flying on the play. Lee was pursuing Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and did not see Tate.

I'm sure they will," Jones said, according to ESPN Dallas, when he was asked if the league would review the play. "We saw the same thing you saw. That’s certainly something we know or expect penalties and fines about. They didn’t see the helmet hit or they would have called it."

Lee didn’t complain about the play afterward.

"That’s part of the deal," he said. "He can celebrate all he wants. I bet you if we went head-to-head and square up he probably won’t be celebrating as much. It’s part of the deal and part of football, and hits like that happen."

It was very similar to a crushing blow Chicago Bears wide receiver Earl Bennett put on Seahawks punter Jon Ryan two seasons ago when Bennett caught Ryan as he wasn’t looking and decked him with a blow to the high chest area.
