Jets being extra cautious with Plaxico Burress
Remember when Plaxico Burress has the sore ankle and was just going to miss a day or two of camp with his new team the New York Jets?
Well, the big wide receiver has yet to fully pariticipate in team drills during practice, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, and Burress was not active in 11-on-11 drills on Tuesday. Per the report, he was on the field for three plays in team session on Monday.
“We're just trying to avoid that big setback," Jets coach Rex Ryan said. "But he's doing more and more."
The Jets don’t open the preseason until Monday, so there is a chance Burress plays in that game. Yes, taking it easy with him, especially in the early going makes sense, but remember he hasn’t played in an NFL game in 33 months. That’s a long time off to think he’ll make it through this season unscathed.
