Jets CB Dexter McDougle tears ACL

Dexter McDougle, a cornerback the New York Jets selected in the third round of the NFL draft this past May, suffered a torn ACL in practice Sunday, the team announced.

Losing McDougle for the season is a tough blow for the Jets, which needs all the cornerback depth it can get after a poor performance this past Thursday.

However, making matters worse is the fact that 2013 first-rounder Dee Milliner was also injured in Sunday's practice, according to the New York Daily News' Manish Mehta. Mehta wrote that Milliner injured his ankle trying to break up a pass down the field in 7-on-7 drills.

The report states that coach Rex Ryan is optimistic about Milliner's injury though.

“He rolled it,” Ryan said. “So it leads you believe it’s more of an ankle sprain than a fracture.”

From there, it's a matter of it being a low or high ankle sprain. Either way, you can bet the Jets will look to protect their prized former first-rounder and rest Milliner quite a bit for the next few weeks.
