Jets cut McElroy, Massaquoi, Carpenter, Garay

The New York Jets cut kicker Dan Carpenter, meaning that Nick Folk retained his job.

They cut quarterback Greg McElroy, who was waived-injured, and veteran defensive tackle Antonio Garay.

The Jets have four quarterbacks on the active roster: Mark Sanchez, Geno Smith, Matt Simms and Graham Harrell.

The Jets also cut recently-signed wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi and shifted running back Mike Goodson to the reserve-suspended list.

The Jets also cut running back Mossis Madu, wide receivers Michael Campbell, Ben Obamanu and Zach Rogers, tight end Chris Pantale, offensive linemen Erik Cook, J.B. Shugarts and Jason Smith, defensive linemen Junior Aumavae, Lanier Coleman and Tevita Finau, linebackers Troy Davis, JoJo Dickson and Jacquies Smith, defensive backs Royce Adams Mike Edwards and Rontez Miles.
