Jets defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson still chasing new deal

New York Jets defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson remains absent from workouts as his contract dispute continues. However, Wilkerson is expected to rejoin the team for a mandatory minicamp next week.

"It's a business; I guess it takes a long time," Wilkerson said. "This is new to me. But, hopefully, something will get done soon."

No deal is imminent. Wilkerson is due $6.97 million in a fifth-year option.

"I just thought, you work hard on the field and do what you have to do on and off the field, and that's how you're supposed to get rewarded," Wilkerson said. Follow me on Twitter: @RavensInsider Aaron Wilson covers the Ravens for The Baltimore Sun
