Jets fail to show killer instinct in loss to Patriots

The final play in overtime of the New York Jets' 29-26 loss to the New England Patriots was of Jets QB Mark Sanchez being sacked and fumbling away New York's last chance to extend or win the game.

But Gary Myers of the New York Daily News says a sack at the end of another drive showed the Jets' lack of killer instinct or lack of faith in Sanchez or both.

After Devin McCourty fumbled a fourth-quarter kickoff and the Jets recovered at the Patriots' 18, New York called a running play with Tim Tebow on first down, and then a run for Joe McKnight on second down.

On third down, the Jets finally did call a pass play, but Sanchez was sacked after his receiver fell down. The Jets settled for a go-ahead field goal but ran only 24 seconds of clock, leaving far too much time for Tom Brady to march New England downfield for the tying field goal.

It send the game to OT where the Patriots finished off their division rival.
