Jets' Leonhard takes issue with boos of Sanchez
When New York Jets fans booed starting quarterback Mark Sanchez during pre-game introductions, teammate Jim Leonhard didn't like it.
And he said as much, telling WFAN (via the New York Daily News) about the fans' treatment of Sanchez by Jets fans.
“I think we have a great crowd,” Leonhard told WFAN . “I think probably for one of the first times I was kind of disappointed. Our starting quarterback gets booed in introductions. As players, you kind of turn to each other and say, ‘You know what? I guess we’re in this one today by ourselves. We can’t rely on the crowd to give us that energy because it’s already started off on a bad note.’ So I will say that this past weekend was really the first time that I’ve been kind of frustrated going into a game, which is bad.”
Sanchez was coming off two straight poor performances, but responded with four TD passes to beat the Bills, 28-24. He said he did hear the crowd reaction with the boos, but sounded as if he tried to shrug it off, for the most part.
“Well, of course you hear them,” Sanchez said after the game about the boos. “You hear a lot of stuff.”
