Jets' Mangold backs Sanchez
Embattled New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez has at least one supporter still in the locker room - the man who snaps him the football, center Nick Mangold.
Mangold, appearing on ESPN Radio in New York said via the New York Post, "That’s the thing that really bothered me about the article. It was saying that he was lazy and didn’t put the work in, felt complacent. It couldn’t be more further from the truth. The guy puts in more work and more time, cares more about the team than anybody else in that locker room. For someone to come out and say that and not put their name behind it really bothered me."
Sanchez was ripped in a New York Daily News story citing anonymous sources, claiming he was "lazy" and "content" because he knew he would not be benched by the coaching staff.
Rex Ryan might be right about one thing. Maybe the Jets are a bigger deal now in New York than the Giants. Consider this: The Jets haven't played in two weeks but the confusion and chaos with Gang Green has generated more headlines than the Giants, who are playing Sunday for a chance to advance to the NFC Championship Game. Hmm, what's wrong with that picture?
