Jets place Leonhard on injured reserve

For the second straight year, safety Jim Leonhard's season is ending prematurely, says ESPNNewYork.com.

The Jets placed the veteran safety on injured reserve after he tore the patellar tendon in his right knee in Sunday's 37-10 trouncing of the Kansas City Chiefs. Leonhard had intercepted Chiefs QB Tyler Palko and was hurt on the return.

Last year, Leonard was lost for the season with a broken leg.
