Jets QB McElroy has thumb surgery
Greg McElroy underwent surgery to repair a torn ligament in his thumb and could miss several weeks with the injury.
McElroy, a rookie from Alabama, could miss "several weeks," according to a source speaking to the New York Daily News.
The Jets apparently have intentions of re-signing QB Drew Willy to their practice squad and might be looking for a No. 3 quarterback behind Mark Sanchez and Mark Brunell.
Also, the Jets will be without receiver Logan Payne, who underwent wrist surgery and will be lost for 6-8 weeks.
