Jets retain Thurman, Dunbar, other assistants

The New York Jets retained defensive coordinator Dennis Thurman and offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg and several other assistant coaches.

The Jets promoted quality control assistant Bobby April III to linebackers coach, replacing Brian Van Gorder after he was hired as the Notre Dame defensive coordinator.

The Jets still need a special-teams coordinator after Ben Kotwica left to become the Washington Redskins' special teams coordinator.

The Jets also retained assistant head coach-running backs coach Anthony Lynn, quarterbacks coach David Lee, offensive line coach Mike Devlin, tight ends Steve Hagen, wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal, assistant line coach Ron Heller, defensive lnie coach Karl Dunbar, secondary coach Tim McDonald, assistant secondary coach Brian Smith and assistant line-linebackers Jeff Weeks, special teams assistant Louie Aguiar, strength and conditioning coach Justus Galac and assistants Pierre Ngo and Paul Ricci.
