Jets rookie Devin Smith has punctured lung
New York Jets rookie wide receiver Devin Smith has broken ribs and a partially punctured lung.
Smith is a second-round draft pick from Ohio State.
He's out four to six weeks.
"Hopefully, he comes back sooner than that," Jets coach Todd Bowles said. "These types of things happen. It was a freak accident. We'll try to get him back as fast as we can, but we want him to be healthy."
Smith is in the hospital.
He averaged 28.2 yards per catch for the Buckeyes, catching 33 passes for 931 yards and 12 touchdowns last season.
