Jets' Ryan would like Colts to rest their starters

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) -- Rex Ryan has unveiled his wish list to Santa, and all he wants for Christmas is for the Indianapolis Colts to rest their star players.

Ryan, whose New York Jets play at undefeated Indianapolis on Sunday, opened his daily news conference Wednesday with the team's "injury report." He ran down a list of Colts players such as Peyton Manning, Dallas Clark and Dwight Freeney, and added that those guys wouldn't play.

Ryan then said a few Colts coaches should get extended holiday breaks.

Ryan smiled and stopped himself before saying that he was reading the wrong list, reaching into his pocket and pulling out the real injury report.

Whether Manning & Co. play, the Jets (7-7) need to win to keep their slim playoff hopes alive.
