Jets' Sanchez to play through broken nose

New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez suffered what Coach Rex Ryan termed a "minor break" in his nose in Sunday's 34-24 loss to the Oakland Raiders.

Sanchez has been cleared to play through the injury, according to the Newark Star-Ledger, and will wear a protective face shield on his helmet while the injury heals.

At a time when hits on the quarterback are coming under scrutiny, with Michael Vick's hand injury and complaints about hits, Ryan was quick to say that Oakland's Kamerion Wimbley should have been flagged on the play, using a bit of sarcasm to make his point.

"Our guy gets a broken nose, I don’t think there was a flag," Ryan said. "I think he must have got hit in the chest and broke his nose."
