Jets sign Bernard Pierce

The New York Jets have signed veteran free agent running back Bernard Pierce, according to a source. Pierce is suspended for the first two games of the season due to a guilty plea for a driving under the influence arrest while playing for the Baltimore Ravens. Pierce was cut by the Ravens and claimed off waivers by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He missed the final six games of last season with a calf injury. Pierce had a concussion while playing for the Jaguars, too. He had 11 yards on six carries with three catches for 7 yards. Pierce rushed for 1,334 yards and five touchdowns, including 532 yards as a rookie when the Ravens won the Super Bowl. Pierce is a former Ravens third-round draft pick from Temple.
