Jets sign Joe Mays

The New York Jets signed former Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Joe Mays.

Mays, 29, is a former sixth-round draft pick.

He has 38 career starts.

Mays was signed as a backup to Demario Davis and David Harris.

Mays played in eight games last season for Kansas City with three starts.

He was with the Houston Texans two seasons ago.

He has also played for the Philadelphia Eagles and Denver Broncos.
