Jim Irsay pleads guilty to OWI

The NFL has no excuse but to forward with discipline toward Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay.

On Tuesday, Irsay pleaded guilty to misdemeanor operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, stemming fom an incident that occurred on March 16, reports the AP. Irsay was pulled over and arrested, and later was found to be under the influence of prescription pills oxycodone, hydrocodone and alprazolam. Ozycodone and hyrdrocodone are painkillers, while alprazolam is an anti-anxiety medication.

The NFL has taken a lot of heat for delaying Irsay's punishment. Now that he's pleaded guilty, the league should be able to move forward on this. As a result of the guilty plea, Irsay was sentenced to 60 days in jail, with 58 days suspended. The remaining two days have been considered served since he stayed one day in jail following the arrest.
