Jimmy Johnson tells Dolphins to hire talent evaluator
Jimmy Johnson, who was once a big-name coaching hire for the Miami Dolphins, advised the team to hire a skilled talent evaluator rather than a big-name coach like Bill Cowher or Jeff Fisher.
It appears to be a foregone conclusion that current head coach Tony Sparano won't survive the impending purge, and there is no guarantee that general manager Jeff Ireland will either.
Johnson, appearing on the Joe Rose Radio Show, said via the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, that the most important hire made this off-season would be someone to call the personnel shots rather than a coach, who might want complete control over the organization.
“I think the No. 1, most important person in your entire organization is your talent evaluator, whoever that guy is,” Johnson said. “And when I say talent, not necessarily just the players. Talent evaluator as far as your coaches, your assistant coaches, the people in your organization."
