Joe Staley stands up for Michael Crabtree as a good teammate
Michael Crabtree might not have said all the right things this offseason, but that doesn’t mean his teammates aren’t saying all the right things about him.
The San Francisco 49ers wide receiver fits in just fine if you go by what is being said about him.
This time, left tackle Joe Staley vouched for the club’s 2009 first-round draft pick in an interview on Sirius XM NFL, according to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee.
“Michael Crabtree, he's a great teammate,” Staley said. “I have nothing negative to say about Michael Crabtree. He does show up. He shows up to everything ... when we're together, he shows up. He has his own workout routine that he likes to do, that he feels comfortable with. We have 20 guys that are usually here (at San Jose State). Michael Crabtree is not the only one who's not here every day."
Quarterback Alex Smith has also stood up for Crabtree so perhaps too much has been made about decisions the former Texas Tech star has made as well as comments that have come out of his mouth.
Entering his third season in the NFL, what’s going to be paramount – and easiest to judge – is Crabtree’s performance level. It’s time for him to step up.
