John Fassel will be Rams special teams coach
Unfortunately for the St. Louis Rams, John Fassel cannot bring Sebastian Janikowski and Shane Lechler with him.
But the special teams coach will bring the systems he used the past three seasons with the Oakland Raiders as he joins Jeff Fisher’s new coaching staff. The Rams have hired Fassel as their special teams coach, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Per Thomas, the Rams have made only three hires official to this point – offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, defensive coordinator Gregg Williams and assistant head coach Dave McGinnis. But much of the rest of the staff is in place as Thomas reports that Paul Boudreau will be the offensive line coach, Mike Waufle is the defensive line coach and Blake Williams, the son of Gregg, will have a position on the defensive staff. Tim Walton will also have a place on the defensive staff and Rob Boras will serve as the tight ends coach, a hire the National Football Post can confirm. Ray Sherman could be the wide receivers coach.
While Fisher works to fill out his coaching staff, the Rams are also seeking to find a general manager.
