John Mara wants Osi and Jerry to work this thing out
Osi Umenyiora has made it very clear how he feels right now about the New York Giants.
He wants a contract extension he believes was promised to him and he made public in a sworn affidavit as part of the Tom Brady lawsuit against the NFL. Umenyiora is an integral part of the Giants’ pass rush but he believes general manager Jerry Reese has yet to make good on his word.
That’s what will make it interesting when camps open because there have been some reports suggesting Umenyiora could take his situation from the courtroom to a holdout. The Giants are going to be cap-strapped to a degree, especially if they want to re-sign another player they’d like back in running back Ahmad Bradshaw. So, they might have to choose. Extend Umenyiora or bring back Bradshaw?
One man wants the situation resolved. And he’s a voice that people typically listen to. Bob Glauber of Newsday reports that Giants owner John Mara wants it hashed out.
“I told him that when this (lockout) is over, he's got to sit down with Jerry man-to-man and work this thing out,'' Mara said. "He's got to do that."
It will be interesting to see if Umenyiora can find a way to work it out if Reese doesn’t pay him. Stay tuned.
