Johnson, Allen dumped by Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins' look at veteran running back Larry Johnson didn't last long, as he was let go in final cuts.

Also former first-round pick (of the New York Giants) Will Allen was among the cuts, as the Dolphins let go of the long-time defensive back. Others whose contracts were terminated to get to 53 players include S Gerald Alexander, NT Ronald Fields, FB Lousaka Polite and T Ray Willis.

The Dolphin placed tackle Lydon Murtha on injured reserve and waived the following players: CB Vincent Agnew, TE Brett Brackett, WR Patrick Carter, G Garrett Chisolm, QB Pat Devlin, TE Dedrick Epps, LB Jonathan Freeny, RB Nic Grigsby, T D.J. Jones, T Matt Kopa, WR Phillip Livas, WR John Matthews, CB Nate Ness, LB David Nixon, QB Kevin O’ Connell, WR Julius Pruitt, S Mark Restelli, LB Robert Rose, TE Mickey Shuler, LB Quinton Spears
