Jon Beason hits little setback following Achilles surgery
Carolina Panthers middle linebacker Jon Beason is sidelined after undergoing surgery on his left foot to relieve Achilles tendinitis.
Panthers coach Ron Rivera said it was a minor procedure that will delay Beason about a week, according to Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer.
Beason signed a $51.3 million contract extension in the Panthers’ spending spree, a deal that included $25 million guaranteed. He’s been a durable performer and has not missed a game in four seasons.
“We're still hoping for the opener," Rivera said. "It was to alleviate the discomfort. As he goes through the rehab portion of it these next few days, then we'll see how he is has he's running around."
