Jordan Gross a penalty machine for Panthers
There are plenty of pressing questions for the Carolina Panthers.
Do they have a starting quarterback on their roster? Is there any way the team can compensate for the loss of defensive end Julius Peppers. Will the trade of safety Chris Harris create a void in the secondary? Is there a wide receiver on the roster other than Steve Smith?
The team didn’t figure it had any worries at left tackle, and now the club is hoping Thursday’s exhibition opener at Baltimore was a mirage for veteran Jordan Gross. Sidelined a year ago with a broken leg, Gross returned against the Ravens and didn’t look anything like his former self.
According to Darin Gantt of the Charlotte Obserber, Gross was awful rocky in the preseason loss. He was called for three penalties in the first quarter, getting nabbed for a false start and two holding penalties, calls that negated nice passes to wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett and tight end Jeff King.
Gross has been healthy through camp and the hope has to be he will be better next time out. Much better.
