Jorvorskie Lane says suspension stemmed from taking diet pills
Tampa Bay Buccaneers fullback Jorvorskie Lane is suspended two games for violating the NFL performance-enhancing drug policy.
Lane said he got suspended for taking diet pills.
“For those unaware of my back story, I was out of the NFL last season due to my weight, which is an issue that I have battled with for many years,” Lane said in a statement. “I purchased an over-the-counter medication to help my weight-loss efforts and, without my knowledge, it contained a banned substance.
“I appreciate the Tampa Bay Buccaneers organization, head coach Lovie Smith, the Glazer family and Bucs Nation for standing behind me while I serve this two-game suspension. I look forward to being back and helping this team win football games.’’
“How much more can I say?’’ Bucs coach Lovie Smith said. “He made a mistake and when you make mistakes, there’s a punishment that comes along with it. He’ll serve his two-game suspension and his team will be here then.’’
