Josh Freeman joins Vikings

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman has agreed to a one-year contract with the Minnesota Vikings, according to his agent, Erik Burkhardt.

The deal is worth $3 million. Freeman is also due $6.25 million from the Buccaneers.

Freeman joins the Vikings, who also have Christian Ponder and Matt Cassel on the roster.

Freeman also considered the Oakland Raiders and Buffalo Bills, among others.

Freeman was cut by the Buccaneers following a bizarre downward spiral where he accused the team of leaking confidential information about his status in the NFL substance-abuse program, was fined for an unauthorized interview and missing a team meeting and was demoted and replaced by Mike Glennon.

Now, he gets a fresh start with the Vikings.
