Jovan Belcher's body exhumed

Former Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher's body was exhumed and will be tested for Chronic Traumatic Encephelopathy, the Kansas City Star reports.

Belcher killed the mother of his child and himself a little over a year ago. Dr. Bennet Omalu, a leading expert in CTE, wants to see if this disease, prevalent in deceased football players with a history of head injuries, is present in Belcher's brain.

“If his brain had been examined [when he died], we’d have a better understanding of why he did what he did,” Omalu told the Star. “We would have a better understanding about concussions and playing football, and we would advance the understanding of the science of all of this.”
