Julius Peppers battling his way through foot injury

Brian Urlacher isn’t the only marquee member of the Chicago Bears defense battling through an injury.

Urlacher remains on the sideline, still not two weeks removed from arthroscopic surgery on his left knee, and defensive end Julius Peppers has his own issue. Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune reports Peppers is dealing with plantar fasciitis, a painful foot condition.

Peppers simply referred to it as “general soreness” but the Bears closely monitored his reps during training camp and often times he would sit out during certain drills like 1-on-1 pass rush. The seven-time Pro Bowl performer has shown up in preseason, though, stuff Giants wide receiver Domenik Hixon for a 13-yard loss on an end around Friday night at New York.

Peppers played through a sprained MCL last season.

"Yeah, (the MCL sprain) hurt,'' Peppers said. "But it's just one of those things where if I can stand up, if I can run, if I can move somewhat, I feel I can help the team.

"I'm not going to sit out because of an MCL sprain. If it's not torn, if I don't require surgery, I'm going to, most of the time, try to play through it.''

<p> That is exactly what he is doing right now.
