Justin Tuck hopes Osi Umenyiora will calm down
Unfortunately, it’s unlikely the differences Osi Umenyiora and Jerry Reese have will not be mended in as timely a fashion as the labor deal was carved between the players and owners.
The New York Giants are due to report to training camp Friday and at this point Umenyiora is a good bet to be a no show in protest of his contract situation. Umenyiora maintains that Reese promised him a contract extension previously and has yet to deliver. Umenyiora was one of the plaintiffs in the Tom Brady vs. the NFL case and had a very pointed affidavit in the process.
So, now we sit back and wait to see if Umenyiora will show up so he and Reese can have the sitdown that Giants owner John Mara said the two must have in order to put their differences behind them.
Defensive end Justin Tuck told Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News that he’s spoken to Umenyiora.
“Hopefully we can get him to calm down,” Tuck said.
But Tuck doesn’t expect temperatures to cool in time for an on-time arrival Friday.
