Kelvin Benjamin didn't know ties exist in the NFL
For Panthers rookie receiver Kelvin Benjamin, it's a good thing his profile isn't as big as Donovan McNabb's was during the prime of the former Eagles quarterback's career.
Following Sunday's 37-37 tie between the Panthers and the Bengals, Benjamin told reporters he didn't know teams could tie in the NFL. This echoed a statement McNabb was made fun of nationally back in 2008, following a tie between his Eagles and — coincidentally — the Bengals.
“I didn’t know you could tie in the NFL,” Benjamin admitted, via The Charlotte Observer.
Hey, you have to appreciate Benjamin's honesty. In a young player's mindset, the idea of tying may not be on the forefront of the mind, considering ties have been eliminated at the college level.
But Benjamin gets the benefit of the doubt on this one due to being a rookie. McNabb had been in the league for quite some time when he made his statement. And even though other players on that Eagles roster weren't aware that you can tie in the NFL, McNabb will never live down that moment.
