Kevin Kolb could report to Eagles training camp
The Arizona Cardinals might be the only team left out there for Kevin Kolb.
With the exception of the Philadelphia Eagles.
And with the Eagles reporting to training camp today in Bethlehem, Pa., at Lehigh University, guess what? Kolb could show up for camp if the team cannot finalize a trade with the Cardinals before camp opens. Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer breaks down the real possibility and asks “how uncomfortable would that be?” Very.
The Cardinals appear to have more options right now than the Eagles. They could still trade for Kyle Orton, who the Denver Broncos are shopping, and get him for a much more reasonable package than Kolb. They could also sign veteran Marc Bulger but that might not be too much of an upgrade over the Derek Anderson signing a year ago.
As badly as the Cardinals need Kolb, the Eagles need to trade him. They have him signed through this season. If they don’t deal him now, he could walk and they would receive nothing in return. Kolb wants to move on. He wants a chance to start. The Eagles look like they’ll have to drop the price to get the deal done. Or maybe they’ll be fine with Kolb participating in camp when he could become injured.
