Kevin Kolb should return to play for Cardinals Friday

It is John Skelton’s turn to start for the Arizona Cardinals on Friday night in the team’s preseason game at Kansas City.

That was predetermined before Kevin Kolb was knocked out of the Hall of Fame Game on Sunday with a minor injury to his midsection. Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt said he expects Kolb to play in the game, according to the Associated Press.

But Skelton, who led a 90-yard scoring drive in the loss to the New Orleans Saints at Canton, Ohio, will get his turn starting and likely be relieved by Kolb at some point.

“He's still a little sore," Whisenhunt said of Kolb. “But I don't anticipate there being any problems as we progress through the week. I certainly think as the week progresses he'll be fine and he'll play."

Kolb’s first pass against the Saints was intercepted and he completed just one of four throws before being injured.
