Kevin Walter has back surgery, could miss all of camp

Two of the Tennessee Titans off-season free agent pickups will begin training camp on PUP, per TitanInsider.com.

Wide receiver Kevin Walter, tight end Delanie Walker and safety Robert Johnson are all on the physically unable to perform list as camp opens Thursday in Nashville.

Of the three, Walter's injury is the most serious as he underwent disc surgery on his back that had sidelined him for much of the off-season work. Coach Mike Munchak said his recovery could take between four and six weeks.

"He’s probably going to be out a little longer than Delanie, if it’s four weeks, five weeks or six weeks. It just depends on how his rehab goes,” Munchak said.

Walker, a prized pickup the Titans signed to a four-year, $17.5 million deal to leave San Francisco, had his knee scoped after he had missed a few OTA practices last month. He should be back in time to play in at least one preseason game, Munchak said.

Robert Johnson, a backup safety fighting for his roster spot, still has not recovered from a foot injury and is also on PUP.
