Keyshawn Johnson won't be charged in domestic violence incident

Former NFL wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson, an ESPN NFL analyst, won't be charged following a domestic violence arrest on suspicion of misdemeanor battery involving a former girlfriend last month.

According to the district attorney's office, Jennifer Conrad, who told a detective her collar was torn and finger scratched when the former NFL player attempted to take her phone during an argument, is no longer cooperating with teh investigation. Per the report, the injury appears minor and caused by accident.

"I am pleased that law enforcement acted quickly and that this matter has been fairly resolved," Johnson said in a statement released by ESPN. "The quick decision results from the fact that I should not have been arrested because no crime was committed. I did not and would not touch, grab or strike a woman -- any woman. Though Jennifer and I are both pleased that this matter is over, we very much resent the fact that I was ever arrested in the first place. I apologize to my friends, family, fans and colleagues for this matter."

Johnson released another statement previously following the arrest.

"I would like to apologize to my family, friends, fans, colleagues and, of course, to Jennifer for what happened last night at my home in Calabasas," Johnson said in a statement released through ESPN. "Though the true facts will come out as part of the legal process, I can say now, without hesitation, that I did not hit, grab or strike Jennifer, nor would I ever touch her or any woman in anger. I am cooperating with the authorities and will continue to do so to ensure that this personal matter is fairly and expediently resolved."
