Khalil Mack to visit Lions
If the Detroit Lions plan to stay at No. 10 overall in the draft, they're dreaming if they think they have a chance with an upcoming visitor.
According to the Detroit Free-Press, Buffalo outside linebacker Khalil Mack will visit the Lions this coming week. Mack is projected to go in the top six and has an extremely small chance at falling to No. 10.
This scheduled visit follows meetings with South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney and Clemson receiver Sammy Watkins. Neither player figures to drop that far.
That fact brings up the possibility of Detroit trading up in the first round to take one of those players. Why meet with players a team has no chance in drafting if that's not a possibility?
With this year's draft being deep, plenty of teams would likely rather trade back than trade up. Therefore, if the Lions think their missing piece is high up in the first round, it may be to their benefit to find a trading partner that would rather add an extra pick or two while moving back in the first round.
